Vintage Beer Logo T-Shirt Collection

Harvard Brewing Co.
Lowell, MA (1893 - 1956)

Harvard Ale-Beer : Harvard Brewing Co. began as Consumers' Brewing Co. in 1893.  During prohibition only
soft drinks and "near beer" were permitted.  When prohibition was repealed in 1933, the Harvard Brewery
prospered and Harvard beer and ale were well known throughout New England.  During WWII one of the
employees was accused of spying for the Germans; the government enforced the Alien Property Custodial Act
and took over the mainly German brewery.  In the mid-1950s the Harvard Brewery declined and in 1956 was
sold.  Today only two buildings of the former Harvard Brewing Company remain.
